Concord in California

Concord in California is actually the biggest city in Contra Costa County, California. According to the census of 2000 the population of Concord has already touched 121, 780. In the year 1869, Concord was established by Don Salvio Pacheco, with the name Todos Santos. At that time Concord used to boast of their farms scattered around the country. Presently it is one of the major suburb regions of the East Bay San Francisco bay area. Till 1995, the city of Concord was the eastern terminus of the Bay Area Rapid Transit or (BART) passenger train service. Since then the train-line of BART has extended to Pittsberg/bay point. Presently even the planning of a Concord Naval Weapons Station is in the pipeline that is going to be established on a land of 5,170 acres or 21km2.

Concord in California is both a tourist and a business destination. But this city is also the house of a rich cultural heritage. Concord Jazz Festival and the city also housed the Concord Records Jazz record label, until 1999, when it was bought. This city gave birth to the legendary jazz musician Dave Brubeck. This tiny city of Concord is the birthplace of many celebrated figures, such as, mixed martial artist Gil Castillo, Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and Olympic gold medalist Natalie Coughlin.
